More of my Project 365 shots.
Day 16 of 365, dancing on the moon.
I found out that the Life Is Good sim is actually going to remain open for another month! Porta Fosse happened to be present at the sim so I asked him, and he said it’s scheduled to close on February 15, not January 15th as I’d previously thought.
While I was there, my Plurk friend Quaintly appeared and I watched in amusement as her little green arrow on my mini-map chased his green arrow down, lol.
By the way, speaking of Plurk! Plurk is fun, there’s tons of SL’ers on there and it’s become a great tool for networking, getting to know your SL acquaintances a little better, or sometimes it’s just good for laughs. It’s also addictive and they’ve sort of made it into a kind-of-game by awarding “karma points” for your activity. I’m currently trying to enlist three more people so that I can unlock the “idiot” smilie (lol) sooooo… if you don’t have a Plurk account and want one, please please sign up using my link?! CLICK CLICK, YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO HELP ME GET MY SPECIAL SMILIES!
Day 17 of 365, baby pose.
Yes, I’ve become obsessed with my Zooby baby.
The baby has an AO built in so that when you ‘attach’ it, you can opt to have it sleeping in your arms, etc. The AO doesn’t touch the avatar legs, though, so you will have the noobish looking default anims on the bottom half of the av (but there is a nicely done walk anim included).
Getting my av to pose like this was slightly tricky, because my av’s head kept moving every which way and then her eyes wouldn’t focus where I wanted them to.
I finally got it though, and now I’m kind of toying with the idea of making baby poses. Just for fun.
Day 18 of 365, last day of WinterChoice.
Carson and I went to the WinterChoice Event Hall to do some last minute exchanging of cards.
I <3 Carson
Day 19 of 365, me and Baby Coqui with our new friends.
I blogged about my visit to Innsmouth on a previous post, you can read about it here!
Day 20 of 365, I snuck a quick pic with Carson while we were both logged in. I wasn’t in SL very much on this day, and this was the only picture I took. I think Carson doesn’t like this picture, oops!
So there you have it, my latest set of five images for my 365 project. :) I’d originally intended for my 365 to consist exclusively of simple, unedited shots straight out of SL. I quickly discovered that I sometimes want to play with the images, however, whether it’s simply cleaning up some sharp corners on the avatar body or just enhancing the light a little bit. It’s fun!
I’m really just kind of fumbling about, though, when I play with filters and layers and what not. Hell, I only just recently discovered how you can get more control over your black and white image by playing with the different channels under Hue/Saturate! (Carson taught me that ) (PS CS3 has a black and white conversion tool that’s pretty neat, too.)
Hopefully, if I stick this project out and see it all the way through, I will see some kind of measure of improvement in my pics. Hopefully. :-P
Some style credits…
Hair – LAQ, Tess (must be worn with a hairbase skin)
My skin is from LAQ.
I recently visited Innsmouth (this sim is based on Lovecraft’s work, of course) because that was the latest location specified in one of my newest favorite flickr groups, The Rashomon Project. The build and atmosphere are fantastic, and this is one of those spots in SL that you really should visit if you haven’t already done so.
Yes, I’m a bad SL mom. I haul my prim baby to all sorts of creepy locations.
The build is fantastic, from the textures to the ambient sounds.
Levitating book… spooky!
Something is lurking in the distance…
Hanging out with the Deep Ones. I think this might be my favorite Zooby baby shot. My friend Vivi told me I should’ve placed my baby in the monster’s mouth for this pic. :-O
This last shot was my submission for the Rashomon project group. I thought it’d be nice to get an underwater perspective, but I forgot I had shadows enabled so there’s no anti-aliasing, wups. (I’ve a few more pics from my visit to Innsmouth that didn’t make it into this post. If you’re curious, you can check out my Innsmouth flickr set.)
Of course, one of the joys of meandering about SL is dressing up your avatar and taking snapshots of the places you’ve visited. Well, for me anyway. I really liked the outfit I put together for my visit to the Innsmouth sim and I ended up wearing it for a couple of days.
And I confess, I also like dressing up my Zooby baby. They sell baby clothes, and uh… yeah I’ve bought three outfits already, lol. So far I’ve bought her a dress, a t-shirt and jeans, and now a sweater/denim skirt/tights set. I put the Zooby Heart Top & Denim Skirt set on her for these pics because I felt that outfit came closest to looking like winter clothes. My friend Gogo says I might need a Zooby intervention I don’t think I’m that far gone!
Anyways, back to my outfit: I took another picture at the IDIA Laboratories sim to get a better shot of it. Here are the details for it:
Hair – Maitreya – Sasha, bistre
Top – MNK Shop – Knit Sweater Red
Jeans – Armidi Limited – A001 Jeans, black classic
Boots – Reek – Autumn Boots, Red! (50L Friday)
Glasses – House of Curios, Rectangle Framed Glasses #001
Skin – LAQ, Trisha
Gala Phoenix of Curio has released a lovely new skin called ‘Elf’; there’s one makeup in all skintones available as a group gift. It’s got the same body as her previous skins, with a new face…the shading makes the nose appear a bit thinner, and there are adorable dimples to either side of the mouth. The brows are a bit thinner than on her previous skins, and fairly light, so you’ll probably want to go blonde with it. I’m wearing it here with a recent hairstyle from Kavar Cleanslate of Exile, called ‘Monica’, in champagne; it’s a fun, messy ’80′s glam ponytail style that was perfect for the look I wanted.
The outfit is a mix-and-match of two new releases from Ankhari Tammas of Paradisis Creations; ‘Superstar’; a sexy, daring clubwear outfit in gold and black with a cropped top, fingerless wrist gloves, and gold panties, matched here with the Superstar 2 pants in black. I’ve paired it with Sweetest Good-Bye’s ‘Billie’ bolero hoodie (the black with gold trim matches perfectly).
Skin: Curio Elf ‘Happy Holidays’ (group gift) in petal – dark
Eyes: Naughty Designs – Paris Blue Eyes
Hair – Exile – Monica in Champagne
Top, panties – Paradisis Creations, Superstar
Pants, suspenders – Paradisis Creations, Superstar 2
Shoes – Maitreya Gold, Esprit XTD Noir
Prim nails – Pixel Mode Sculpted Nails
LAQ recently released a new Glow Skin. Say hello to Ania!
Click images to see larger versions.
Even though I love trying on different skins I always go back to my beloved Trisha… but I dunno, I’m really loving the look of Ania and perhaps enough to make a switch! One of the first things I noticed about this skin are the brows. The eyebrows on my Glow Trisha are a huge part of what I love about that skin, but the brows on Ania are just as good imo. I’m also loving the shape of the lips as well as the perfect amount of gloss on them.
I’m not one of those people who absolutely must have freckles on her skin. Not that I have anything against freckles, I think they’re cute! But I don’t have any in RL so I’ve never desired them on my SL skin. Ania has a light dusting of freckles, but it’s very subtle (you might need to go to the larger images to see them).
LAQ’s Glow Ania is available in three skintones (fair, peach, and nougat). You get a pack of 10 makeups and optional hairbase, too.
The first outfit I decided to put on with my new Ania skins was my red sweaterdress from Luck Inc. Red is my favorite color Luck Inc is known for showing a lot of skin; this sweaterdress covers a little bit more than some of their other items but it still shows off your cleavage and legs! (Speaking of legs, I think this dress would look cute with skinny jeans, too.)
I started out with my Omnia 10 hair from ::69 but because it’s a long style, it kept cutting into the big cowl neck prim on the dress and it was hard to find a pose that wouldn’t do that. If that sort of thing bugs you, especially when you’ve got an AO with a lot of movement, then I’d say switch to a hairstyle that’s shorter or pulled back, like maybe a ponytail or half pony.
I’m really liking Luck Inc’s texturing, CK Winx does lovely work. But don’t take my word for it, here’s a closer shot of the dress, in black:
Last but not least, the necklace I’m wearing in the last shot is from Caroline’s Jewelry… and some of you Twilight fans out there might recognize it if you clicked on the larger image! It’s the [Lion & Lamb] Rosalie Crest Necklace. Caroline’s recently released several Twilight inspired pieces, and one of my friends commented that the jewelry would also work with fun outfits like period gowns, too.
Skin (all images) – LAQ (a.k.a. Laqroki) – Glow Ania + Cleavage Enhancer 2

Dresses – Luck Inc. – Sweaterdress in Bulgarian Rose, Black, and Khaki
Hair – ::69, Omnia 10; Little Heaven, Rabi; lamb, Oh Sugar
Shoes – Maitreya, Shanti; Maitreya, Soho boots; LAQ, kneehigh boots
Hosiery – Sheer, KissKiss Tights; Blaze, Pantyhose in tan
Glasses – Naughty, Lennons sunglasses
Necklace – Caroline’s Jewelry, [Lion & Lamb] Rosalie Crest Necklace
Hair – Truth, Linda
Annyka Bekkers, the talented designer behind the Blowpop brand, has released another fresh batch of tasty apparel items that you’re going to want to devour. I was really tempted to cram it all into one huge post, but I decided I want to focus on each set separately because, frankly, I think her work deserves that kind of attention.
I’ve incorporated her Three Goddesses Tank & Panty set into this “look of the day” post. Featuring the Tridevi of the three Hindu goddesses Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati, the tank top is an eye-catching burst of colors that I knew I immediately wanted to pair up with jeans, my new Moccasin boots and Lennon glasses from Naughty, and my new hairstyle from Maitreya.
Click the images to view larger versions.
The Three Goddesses tank top comes in two lengths, and on a variety of clothing layers. Yay for options like this! You can mix and match with other clothing articles and/or tattoos, and decide whether you’re in the mood to show some midriff with those low waisted jeans.
Going on to the other items in my LOTD photo: I’m really glad Lost Thereian has started creating new items for the Naughty brand. I’m pretty much in awe of his skill and attention to details.
I have a preference for glasses that are all primwork (it’s just a personal thing, really; I’ve also seen some very good-looking texture-type glasses) and so I was happy to find out that the Lennon glasses are all sculpted prims. The prims that make up the wireframes are thin, delicate sculpts and I actually didn’t realize they were sculpted until I looked at them closely. Call me spoiled, though; I’m used to buying scripted glasses that let me switch the position of the frames, control the texture color and opacity, etc. These glasses are Copy/Modify, though, so I was able to make the tint on them lighter in about three seconds and I’m sure making a copy adjusted to fit up on my hair will be just as simple. The glasses have really cute color names, too; names like Strawberry Fields Forever and Imagine (mine is Black Dog). Carson bought the aviators, and they look great, too; I’m tempted to go back and buy a pair for myself!
I almost didn’t get the moccasin fringe boots because there weren’t any demos available in the store. But, after a couple of visits to the shop that was spent looking at them longingly, I decided what the hell, I’ll just buy them… and I’m glad I did! These boots do not require a system shoe base, and they’re Copy/Modify. The fringe on them has great movement since they’re actually textured onto flexi prims. The fringe texture also has a bit of shadow added to it, creating a look of realism that I really admire.
Finishing off my LOTD is the Green hairstyle from Maitreya. I felt the slightly tousled look of it, with it’s locks twisted and casually draped over the shoulder, fit in perfectly with the easygoing feel of the rest of my outfit. Because I wanted to show off the tank top without any hair covering it up, though, I’ve also worn friday’s cute Tatum hairstyle in the second photo.
Tank top & panty set – Blowpop – Three Goddesses set
Jeans – Armidi – Grace
Boots – Naughty – Calf High Moccasins, adobe
Glasses – Naughty – Lennons, Black Dog black
Hair (image 1) – Maitreya – Green, Bistre
Hair (image 2) – friday – tatum, cynical black
Skin – LAQ Glow Trisha
This will be a short & sweet post because it’s nearly my bedtime.
One of my favorite stores, Coco, just announced a new group gift tonight. It’s a cute black turtleneck! It comes with two different sized collar prim attachments, and sleeve attachments. Clothing is provided on all layers so that you can opt to wear it untucked as I’m wearing it in the pic below, or you can go with the shirt + underpants options to wear it tucked.
I figured my new Charli hair from Maitreya would go nicely with it, as well as the new Midcut boots from LAQ. The boots from LAQ are beautifully textured and come in a bunch of colors, I think my favorites are beige and olive.
You can click the images to see larger versions.
Oh, and one more thing before I end this post… is Lost Thereian back to creating new items for Naughty Designs? I paid a visit recently and came across some fringed boots vendors that look really cute but I haven’t picked up any (yet). They were in a new building that I could swear wasn’t there a month or so ago when I last visited, along with a bunch of tops and sweaters that are sorted by color:
I don’t know exactly how long these items have been out but I’m guessing they haven’t been there for too long. The sim looks like it’s still undergoing extensive redesign, the parking lot was floating up in the air. :p
LAQ released a new Glow skin a little while ago, and her name is Carina Carina is actually one of the faces from the original Portrait collection, but given the “Glow” treatment — updated body, skin and facial features that are enhanced with a healthy “glow”, and sharpened details. The result? A skin that has a natural look and fresh feel to it.
Carina is available in three skintones, with eight makeups for each. Each makeup has a bald version, and a hairbase version for wearing with certain “hairbase” hairstyles from LAQ.

Well, I meant to blog about the re-release of the Lacie skins at LAQ as Glow skins a while ago now, but life has been rather hectic over the past week. (Just thinking about how crazy things were is making me tired again!) Better late than never, though, right?
The Lacie skins are available in four skintones, and each skintone comes with eight makeups. You get two versions of each makeup: bald, and hairbase for wearing with certain hairstyles. There’s a lot of pretty details on Lacie, but the part I love about this particular skin most are her eyes: she has deep set eyes that are framed by nicely done brows that aren’t too thick or too thin, but just right.
Anyway, enough talk… let’s just get on to the pics
You can click on the images above to see (much) larger versions of them on my flickr stream. Visit the Laqroki sim (Laqroki 154, 67, 23) to try demos of the skins.
On a side note, I never thought I’d see the day where I’d drop over 1k on a single pair of shoes in SL. Ever. But omg, I did! I splurged on a pair of Maitreya Gold shoes and I am 100% free of buyer’s remorse. These shoes boast prim toes/feet and the designers included skin presets/notes so that you can match them to most major designer skins. They’re fabulous so I *had* to show them in one of my pics <3

I’ve been looking for nice-looking roller skates in SL for a long time, like really nicely textured and sculpted ones, and I’ve even sent notecards to a couple of shoe designers who weren’t interested in making any ;__; I know I’ve asked pestered Gogo several times over the past year or so if she knows of any nice roller skates, but the conversation would always end the same way: we’d both agree that no one had yet made any traditional roller skates that were also good-looking sculpts.
Almost a week ago, however, Gogo IM’d me to ask if I’d seen the new skates ad from Pixel Mode. She passed me a copy of the ad and then I pretty much just said something stupid like AHHHH YAYYY back to her. Here’s why:
Seriously, how can you look at that and not think, MUST HAVE!? So, I ran over to Pixel Mode, stared at the vendor in admiration for a while (Tya Fallingbridge made this cool discotheque-ish set-up for it) and then paid my L$450 for the most beautiful sculpted roller skates I’ve seen yet in SL.
The shape of the boots, wheels, toe stops, and laces are really nicely done. The tongue part of the boots kind of extend upward and the laces are left undone. When you click the skates, a blue dropdown menu lets you change the colors of the sheels, toe stopper, and laces.
As the ad states, your purchase includes two pairs of skates; one white and one black. For each pair, there are actually three skates included: one for your left foot, and two for your right foot. One of the right-footed shoes is scripted with a skating animation, while the other one isn’t scripted at all so that you can use another AO with your skates.
You are definitely going to want to use a different skating animation HUD, or AO, or whatever, because the one simple skating animation included isn’t that great; I wasn’t thrilled with the way it made my arm completely cut into my av’s torso:
The skates are No Modify, which means you cannot drop a different skating animation into the shoe. This being the case, you pretty much have to use a separate HUD/AO. I did a bit of shopping around to see what other skating HUD and AO choices are out there; the only one I could find was the L$650 rollerblade AO sold at Sine Wave. You can call me cheap if you like, but I’d already spent L$450 on the skates and didn’t feel like dropping another L$650 to have a decent skating animation.
So, what to do? Well, I’ve had Skoopf skates since 2007, though. (Heck, who doesn’t have Skoopf skates?!) It’s easy enough to use the script and animations from your Skoopfs to create your own makeshift skating HUD to go with your Pixel Mode Roxy Rollers. If you’re not familiar with how to go about doing this, here are some quick and super-easy steps, complete with pictures This will take maybe two minutes to do, and your result will be like this:
Click on the images to see bigger versions of them on my flickr stream.
1. Drag your right-side Skoopf skate from your inventory, to the ground. You want the right side because this is the one that carries all the scripts and animations. Right-click the skate and select Open from the wheel menu, and select Copy To Inventory.
2. You should now have a folder in your inventory called Skoopf Ultra Roller Skates (Right), or something like that. You can go ahead and delete that right-footed Skoopf skate you had rezzed earlier, and don’t worry about losing it because it should be a copyable object.
3. Now rez a cube prim, and rename it to whatever you want your HUD to be called; I chose to name mine Melanie’s Skate HUD and textured it with one of my favorite pics. Drag all of the items from that Skoopf Ultra Roller Skates (Right) folder into the Contents tab of your cube prim. Be sure to double check and make sure all of the scripts, animations, and notecard have made it into the cube.
4. Right-click > Take the cube you’ve created. It will now appear in your inventory, in your Objects folder. Go ahead and move your HUD into the same folder as your Roxy skates to make it easier to find later. Now right-click the HUD object in your inventory, select Attach To HUD from the contextual menu that appears, and then select Top Left to attach the HUD to the upper left corner of your client. (Or you can attach it elsewhere, whatever your preference is.)
5. Your client screen should now look something like this:
6. You can reposition and resize the HUD to better fit into that spot by right-clicking the HUD and then using the prim-editing interface. After moving and resizing my HUD, this is what it looks like on my client:
Now you’re all set! And since your HUD is made of a single cube prim, you can make it as tiny and unobtrusive as you want (I personally hate having a lot of HUDs cluttering up my view). Click your HUD once and the blue dropdown should appear that will let you turn it on, and now you’ve got all those Skoopf skating tricks ready to be used.
If you don’t own any Skoopf skates and would like to use the scripts and anims for your Roxy Roller skates, you can pick up a pair at the little vendor in front of Caroline’s Jewelry, which is right across the way from my store. If I recall correctly, they’re L$75.
There is a completely free alternative, too. TP in to Abranimations, and you should see a freebie board near the landing point. One of the freebie items is a pair of roller skates. These Abranimations freebie skates work in such a way that you must use the included HUD in conjunction with the skates, though, so you will need to attach two objects instead of just one. Overall, I personally prefer the Skoopf script/anims. ^_^
Now all we need is for Pixel Mode to make some nice, traditional-looking ice skates for us…

(Before I start, full disclosure: I work at Laqroki [customer service]. I chose to apply for work there [back when it was RaC] because I love their skins. When I finally made it into Second Life roughly a year and a half ago, I spent two weeks searching for my perfect skin. It took me that long to find the right skin because in addition to wanting something that had a light, fresh look without heavy makeup, I also wanted a darker skintone that befitted my Filipino, Chinese, and Spanish ethnic mix. I’d found RaC very early, and after looking at countless demos after two weeks my choice was clear. ^_^)
The talented graphic designers behind the Laqroki brand, Mallory Cowen and Winter DiPrima, have opened the doors to their new apparel shop, something I’ve been looking forward to for a while now! I’m usually somewhat prone to writing a lot but this time I will try to let the pictures do most of the talking. Speaking of pix, if you are on my flickr contacts list then you should be able to view the large versions of these images (they are kinda big lol).
<3 the sculpted collar on the trench jacket!
I am a suckah for anything with a boatneck cut at the neckline. Seriously. (That, and 3/4 sleeves are hawt.)
And the ever important jeans question: will your ass look good in these? Yes, it will :p One of the things I always notice about jeans and pants in SL is whether the back pockets sit on your rump where they are supposed to, or if they’re kind of melting off your behind and onto the backs of your thighs. I’m happy to report that the pockets on these are placed where they ought to be
And men, you have definitely not been left out of the party. There’s a really nice selection of men’s clothing and accessories ^_^
