When I visited the Rezzable 2010 event at Greenies to check out the Exile Laya hair, I was immediately drawn to one of the Bare Rose outfits. Bare Rose is one of my favorite stores, after all. ^_^
Then I hit up Inspire Space Park and played at being some space warrior queen, impervious to the perils of floating about in outer space. :-P
I think my latest images from my 365 project thingamajig kind of reflect the way I currently see SL fashion. For me, it’s basically like being a kid again with all these crazy fun possibilities for letting your imagination go. You can dress up as an alien, a superhero, or a mythical creature… it’s just endless!
None of it would be possible without the amazing content creators that grace our grid with their talents. <3 I normally don’t do the gushing fangirl thing and reach out to designers at random, but when I laid my eyes on the Laya hair demo from Exile I *had* to IM Kavar Cleanslate just to say “THANK YOU”. I liked this hairstyle so much, I actually used it in three of the five shots I’m posting about!
Anyways Here are my latest…
Day 21 of 365, at Inspire Space Park.
I was *trying* to give this image a comic book cover feel because I felt the pose came out looking sort of superhero-ish, but I’m not really sure what else I should do to it.
I think it’s looking a bit busy, though, with that background >.<
Day 22 of 365, snagged.
Have I mentioned that Carson is awesome? <3
Day 23 of 365, lashes.
I really like these eyelashes that I got during the latest 60L Sunday, from Crimson + Clover. 60L Sunday has an INSANE amount of stuff but at least they’re really organized, allowing you to go through their notecard and quickly filter through everything.
I’m in the group as a merchant but I haven’t done any 60L releases myself. I am a lazy bum. I think I need to fix that!
Day 24 of 365, insilico plant.
I shot some pictures for a blog post that I plan on putting up soon. This is one of the shots I took. I tried playing around with it to make it look like a painting? Not sure if I really succeeded in doing that. ^_^
Day 25 of 365, casting a spell.
Kouse Singh made a recolor of her Hope gown and I had fun setting up some shots as a wicked fairy. I actually blogged this earlier and you can find that here.
Some style credits…

More of my Project 365 shots.
Day 11 of 365.
Every now and then I like to stalk Chris Palen’s flickr stream. I haven’t seen him in SL very much these days, but when he does log in he often ends up taking some fantastic photos.
I paid a visit to the Pathfinder Lowlands because of this shot of his:www.flickr.com/photos/chris_palen/3657777012/
Day 12 of 365. Shot at Japan Kanto sim for the Rashomon Project. (You should join this group if you already haven’t! Queen Coronet sends us to great locations to take our shots.)
Day 13 of 365, room with a chair. I revisited the REZ sim and found things were quite different since my last visit.
Day 14 of 365, losing time at Bare Rose. Love this store! When I go there I’m guaranteed to spend a lot of time just staring at everything.
Day 15 of 365, working on stuff for my store.
I first opened my store, Mela’s, over two years ago. I had this tiny 40-prim rental on a sim called The LOLO.
My shop has grown a little bit since then, and it now sits on a quarter sim parcel on a region that is called, purely by coincidence, Lo Lo.
This shot was taken in my workstudio area.
I saw a few Plurk friends starting their own “Project 365″ on New Year’s Day, and I figured I’d start my own, too. In case you haven’t heard of it yet, it’s basically just a project where you take one shot per day, for an entire year. I actually tried doing something like this in RL a few years back and it’s pretty difficult to keep up with; I gave up roughly 30 days into it. I think it’ll be easier to stick to in SL.
I’d originally intended for my entire 365 to be comprised of purely in-world, unprocessed shots… but I eventually yielded to the desire to retouch some sharp avatar corners when I took my latest picture with my prim baby, lol. Anyway, here are the first five days’ worth of shots I’ve taken:
001. Checking out some neat driftwood at G-Field.
002. Working at LAQ is a huge, huge part of my SLife. I’ve been working here for over two years, from when it was originally called RaC.
Handing in my work application to Mallory and Winter was one of the best SL decisions I’ve ever made. They’re among the nicest people I know of in SL and they’ve done so much for me, I don’t think I could ever really repay their kindness.
003. One of the best parts of my SL is my partner, Carson Koenkamp. <3
Who knew that the random guy I decided to say ‘hello’ to almost three years ago at Mill Pond would turn out to be one of my best friends? Grabbed this shot while we were hanging out in our sweet little home in the sky this evening.
004. Running through the jungle.
I was taking pics with my friend Vivi in some of the Costa Rica sims. We recently bought some hot new tribal type outfits from Bare Rose and were taking pics for a blog post. (I tend to do this a lot xD Take a bunch of shots for a blog post and then end up not posting for maybe a couple of weeks.)
005. Move toward light; Ahern Welcome Area, for the Rashomon Project group. (This is a group started by Queen Coronet that is basically about a bunch of people all depicting the same subject but with their own spin on it. If that sounds like your sort of thing, please join! :) )
I crashed twice while taking shots here; one of my attempts included shadows. I gave up after the second crash and decided to stick with this image ~.~ No post-processing was done on this shot.
I think we’ve all seen the ugly baggy pants around SL, and yeah I’m not afraid to call them out for what they are: UGLY! Stacked torus prims do not make for nice baggy pants!
One of the things I picked up at Bare Rose on my recent spree (yes, I went a little spend-happy there, hence three BR posts in a row :p ) were the lowrise heavy cargo pants set. I actually saw one of my friends wearing them and I had to have them! They’re mostly sculpts, with lots of pockets that have buttons and zippers, and flexi straps and a belt. You get black, blue, brown, green, and pink pants, plus there are a few cropped tank tops included.
You can click on the image to see a larger version on flickr:
As always, Bare Rose prims are No Copy, so exercise care when editing. I found that I had to do very minimal editing; most of my editing work centered around the belt.
Here are a couple of closer looks at the prim details on the belt and pockets:
If you like the baggy pants look, then another store that has some nice ones I’ve seen is [ JP ]:dsg (JP Design), owned by Jasper Potez. I haven’t picked those up yet, but I probably will; they’re scripted with texture change and the belt has a cute little iPod-ish prim attached to it. I think it’d look cute and sassy with a bikini top!
Btw, I was camping for fun stuff like gas masks and machine guns at Sick when I took these pictures, and used a Sine Wave dance animation. I like how the Stephanie hair from Truth moves. Truth is a lean, mean, hair-making machine!!! I’m guessing most people already know this, but just in case you don’t, get thee on the Truth subscribo, now. His hair’s too good to miss.

See, this is what I love about Bare Rose. In addition to being damn cheap, you can get all sorts of different looks out of what June Dion has to offer. Yesterday’s foray into scary sexy was fun, hehe, but I was in the mood for a more mainstream look this morning. Who knows what tomorrow will bring!
Bare Rose has these great little rolled up sweaters with sculpted attachments. As usual, everything’s modifiable and no copy, so you can edit to fit but exercise care while doing so. There’s four sculpt attachments altogether: two for the parts that are rolled up around your arms, one for the turtleneck, and one more for the part that is rolled up around the chest, just above the breasts. Editing was super easy; the only adjustments I had to make was to reposition the neck prim slightly and to lower the collar slider on the jacket layer.
For less than L$200, you get the sweater in a whopping six colors: black, blue, green, red, purple, and pink. Since they’re transferable, you can share with your alts! :p I’ve only shown black, blue, red, and green in my pics. It should be noted, these don’t come with shirt for placing under the sweater… you need to find something in your inventory to go under. Or you can give everyone a peep show :p

I haven’t been to Bare Rose in a long time because, frankly, my old laptop did NOT like that sim. I’m happy to report that’s changed
I went there to go pick up some cargo pants I saw on a friend, by my attention was quickly diverted by all the playful cyberpunk, goth, and fantasy outfits. You know, as much as I love the great textures on mainstream clothes that we can find in SL, sometimes it gets boring and I want to play with looks I’d not wear in RL. I forgot just how MUCH Bare Rose offers, and in so many colors, for so little L$! I’m not sure that there’s any outfits there that costs more than L$200, so it’s easy to get carried away in there if you’re not careful.
I picked up an outfit called Silent Heart and I looooooove it, I don’t want to take it off:
There are a lot of prims and it’s all No Copy, so be sure to hop on a posestand and take your time with editing them to fit. Here’s what’s under the flowing prim skirt:
The outfit actually does not come with the fishnet parts and nipple tape. The nipple tape is from some old store that has been closed for a long time, now, but I believe that Dark Eden has some, as well as Juicy. The fishnet comes from an outfit called Belted that I got from Winter Moon quite a while back, too, so I’m not sure if that’s still available. I wore the outfit without those items in the last pic; be prepared to have at least some of your nipples bared if you choose to wear the outfit without anything underneath.
I think the mouth covering mask is one of my favorite parts, hehe. The sculpted part around the collar also emphasizes your avi’s neck; it looked great paired up with my new Grazia hair in the night color from Truth.
Silent Heart was less than L$200, and for your money you get the outfit in black, red, and pink. ^_^

Note: All images are straight out of SL, except for cropping. I loooooooove Windlight!!!!!
Winter DiPrima of Laqroki recently released some new knee-high boots, and I’m loving the look of them! I’ve had them for a few days and I’m already getting some pretty good mileage out of them.
I realize the picture above isn’t the greatest for showing off the boots, but I couldn’t not show this because the beige ones go really nicely with the Last Call Dominica outfit and it’s signature Last Call decolletage. Yay for equestrienne sexiness!
But okay, here are some pics that are more close-up, and as always, you can click the images for larger versions on my flickr page:
These boots are a little different from most other boots I’ve seen in SL, because the boot itself is in one piece (not one prim! lol sorry), so you don’t have that odd joint issue at the ankle, which I think may have been necessary given the placement of the buckle and strap on this design. As far as texturing and shape goes, I think these pictures speak for themselves; they look beautiful and realistic.
The boots are sold with Copy/Mod permissions, which is really awesome for getting a good perfect fit. I did a little bit of editing to fit the boots to my shape, and I think it took me maybe 2 or three minutes to do both sides. I actually forgot to show one more color in the shot above; in addition to silver, black, red, white, and beige, the boots also come in brown.
These boots are located in Laqroki’s Apparel department.

This eye-catching number is called the tidori 2 coat. While one would think this dramatic mix of patent leather, lace, silver metal parts, patterned material, and a generous helping of black feathers (!) would seem visually cacophonous, it’s all actually pulled together very nicely by limiting the color palette to black and white.
Since the coat is already so visually engaging, I kept the remaining part of the outfit simple with skinny black pants and black ankle boots.
The coat features a belted flexi-prim skirt, prim sleeve cuffs lined with black feathers, two pouch attachments that go on either upper arm, a sculpted prim collar, and a hoodie that’s given a black patent leather texture and more black feathers. A closer inspection of the upper arm pouches reveal a leather zipper slider, white lace, and silver prim buckles.
The upper part of the coat is on the system jacket layer. I noticed that the texture stretches a bit over the breast area, causing the texture to look a little muddy in that area, but it’s a very minor quibble of mine that I can easily overlook. This coat has so much flair and attitude, it’s hard not to love it.
Loved it so much, I went and splurged on the tidori pink coat as well:
There are other color options available as well: red, blue, yellow, and two others that I’ve forgotten (sorry). The coat also comes in red plaid as well as an interesting “black wave” pattern.
This next jacket from Ce Cubic Effect features a cable knit texture that shows up very clearly on the sculpty prims it’s been applied to.
The first thing that grabs your attention about this jacket is it’s incredible shape. Thanks to sculpties, designers have been creating prim attachments with realistic shapes for collars, sleeves, wrist cuffs and the like, and they’re often used to enhance clothing that goes on the usual system layers. A few designers, such as June Dion from Bare Rose, have been taking sculpty clothing even further, crafting entire outfits out of prims. mirai Jun of Ce Cubic Effect seems to be following suit; her store inventory include coats and an entire dress made of prims.
I tried to get shots of this jacket from all sorts of angles so that the great shape of this piece shows through. It’s been endowed with a figure-enhancing blouson shape, something that’s simply not possible on a system layer clothing article. the same pouf-ish effect is used on the sleeves so that it looks as if you’ve pushed the sleeves up your arms slightly. The neckline is also given a great sculpty collar shape, creating an opportunity to show off some of the more dramatic necklaces you’ve got stashed in your inventory.
The areas where you see the material “gather” are actually where the sculpty prims end, exposing the system jacket layer texture that lies beneath it.
A word of warning: people with somewhat bustier/thicker avis may want to see this jacket in person before making the purchase. My own avatar, while not the tiniest one around, is definitely on the slight side of the sliders and in spite of this fact I still needed to edit my shape. Yes, the prims on this jacket are all modifiable, but for some reason mirai chose to give them mod/no copy/transfer permissions, so I was hesitant about editing the prims without having the insurance of a copied backup first.
What I needed to edit were my avi’s breasts. Yes, they’re not exactly large to begin with :-p but it wasn’t the size that I had to edit; rather, what I found I needed to do was increase the cleavage a little bit so that they wouldn’t poke out through the sides of the jacket prims. Here’s a picture showing my avi wearing the jacket with and without the edit:
The system jacket layer has got my avi covered, but the difference in the clarity of texture rendering between the jacket layer and the prim is quite noticeable and I didn’t care for it. A quick adjustment on a single shape slider was all that was needed, though, so I’m quite happy with how it turned out.
