I have to admit, when I hear or read the brand name Ingenue, I pretty much immediately think of the typical retro stuff you’ll see in fashion mags and google searches: sweet, pillowy skirts made of generous helpings of tulle; bobby socks, oxfords, and poodle skirts; Esther Williams style pinup swimsuits that were daring decades ago but are now modest by today’s standards.
What I generally don’t think of are items such as jeans and overalls, which is precisely what Betty Doyle released a little while ago. And I love them!

I wore Ingenue‘s Marguerite sweater top and Jane jeans for this look. The Marguerite top has excellent knit texturing with an argyle detail on the chest area, and what I really love is the sculpted blousing prim that goes right above the waist.
The high-waisted Jane jeans are organized in several layers for mixing and matching, allowing you to wear your shirts tucked or untucked. One of the things I immediately noticed about the jeans were the leg sculpts; they’re the perfect skinny jeans! <3 The sculpts are modifiable, too, so even if you have a bit more thickness/muscle tone in your leg area you’ll be able to edit these to fit. I also wore one of my bigger shapes just to check if the prims could be modded to fit and I forgot to take a picture of the result for this blog, but I think the jeans sculpts looked just fine with a few tweaks. ^_^
My friend Gogo told me I was channeling my inner Minnie Mouse when I paired Ingenue’s red Judy blouse with the Rosie overalls, lol. The overalls are very 40s and look great; they come with sculpted rolled-up cuffs that are modifiable. I’m probably going to wear these again with some of my favorite old standby tank tops from Celestial Studios and a cute, short hairstyle. The Judy top comes complete with puffy sleeves and a cute round collar attachment.
I’m also wearing something that is very, very special with my Ingenue outfits: It’s a necklace that my partner, Carson, had custom made just for me!! <3 I really love the thought that he put into it; it features my birthstone at the center, and of course the hibiscus represents my beloved home, Hawaii. This is actually part of a set that includes an anklet and shorter necklace, and all of it was designed by the ever-so-lovely Caroline Apollo of Caroline’s Jewelry. (She currently does not do custom designs, but you should check out what she does have available )
Thank you, Carson, for being one of my best friends in SL, for making my SL more fun, for watching old musicals with me, and for being Don Lockwood to my Kathy Selden.

LAQ recently released a new Glow Skin. Say hello to Ania!

Even though I love trying on different skins I always go back to my beloved Trisha… but I dunno, I’m really loving the look of Ania and perhaps enough to make a switch! One of the first things I noticed about this skin are the brows. The eyebrows on my Glow Trisha are a huge part of what I love about that skin, but the brows on Ania are just as good imo. I’m also loving the shape of the lips as well as the perfect amount of gloss on them.
I’m not one of those people who absolutely must have freckles on her skin. Not that I have anything against freckles, I think they’re cute! But I don’t have any in RL so I’ve never desired them on my SL skin. Ania has a light dusting of freckles, but it’s very subtle (you might need to go to the larger images to see them).
LAQ’s Glow Ania is available in three skintones (fair, peach, and nougat). You get a pack of 10 makeups and optional hairbase, too.
The first outfit I decided to put on with my new Ania skins was my red sweaterdress from Luck Inc. Red is my favorite color Luck Inc is known for showing a lot of skin; this sweaterdress covers a little bit more than some of their other items but it still shows off your cleavage and legs! (Speaking of legs, I think this dress would look cute with skinny jeans, too.)
I started out with my Omnia 10 hair from ::69 but because it’s a long style, it kept cutting into the big cowl neck prim on the dress and it was hard to find a pose that wouldn’t do that. If that sort of thing bugs you, especially when you’ve got an AO with a lot of movement, then I’d say switch to a hairstyle that’s shorter or pulled back, like maybe a ponytail or half pony.
I’m really liking Luck Inc’s texturing, CK Winx does lovely work. But don’t take my word for it, here’s a closer shot of the dress, in black:
Last but not least, the necklace I’m wearing in the last shot is from Caroline’s Jewelry… and some of you Twilight fans out there might recognize it if you clicked on the larger image! It’s the [Lion & Lamb] Rosalie Crest Necklace. Caroline’s recently released several Twilight inspired pieces, and one of my friends commented that the jewelry would also work with fun outfits like period gowns, too.

Well, I meant to blog about the re-release of the Lacie skins at LAQ as Glow skins a while ago now, but life has been rather hectic over the past week. (Just thinking about how crazy things were is making me tired again!) Better late than never, though, right?
The Lacie skins are available in four skintones, and each skintone comes with eight makeups. You get two versions of each makeup: bald, and hairbase for wearing with certain hairstyles. There’s a lot of pretty details on Lacie, but the part I love about this particular skin most are her eyes: she has deep set eyes that are framed by nicely done brows that aren’t too thick or too thin, but just right.
Anyway, enough talk… let’s just get on to the pics
You can click on the images above to see (much) larger versions of them on my flickr stream. Visit the Laqroki sim (Laqroki 154, 67, 23) to try demos of the skins.
On a side note, I never thought I’d see the day where I’d drop over 1k on a single pair of shoes in SL. Ever. But omg, I did! I splurged on a pair of Maitreya Gold shoes and I am 100% free of buyer’s remorse. These shoes boast prim toes/feet and the designers included skin presets/notes so that you can match them to most major designer skins. They’re fabulous so I *had* to show them in one of my pics <3

I’ve been somewhat remiss about blogging this past week due to a busy first life and just general tiredness, but now I’m ready to pick up where I left off! I’ve got a bunch of stuff I’m really wanting to share on my blog, and topping my list are more delicious skimpy things from Annyka Bekkers of Blowpop.
Blowpop’s Felice is one smoking hot little number that may be worn either as a cami and panties set, or as a slinky, snug slipdress. It was pretty much love at first sight for me when I saw the shading, highlighting, and creases in the texturing on these pieces. They’re designed in such a way so that your curves are given some extra oomph — few dresses will make your av’s butt look this good, lol. I was particularly impressed with how Annyka made the leopard print pattern on the textures line up at the seam along the waist for the slipdress; the spots line up perfect so that you forget that it’s actually composed of two separate clothing layers.
The skirt prim panels for the slipdress are among the best I’ve seen, too. The hem of the dress features a scalloped lace edge (also present along the waistband of the panties). Normally this sort of thing would take me at least a couple minutes of editing to get prims fitted juuuuuust right, but after a mere 10 second edit the prims merged with the pants/underpants layer textures perfectly, almost as if they were meant for me <3
Leg-baring, cleavage-revealing body-hugging slipdresses like this almost always make me think of Elizabeth Taylor in some of her scenes in her bedroom from Cat On A Hot Tin Roof. So naturally I had to bust out my short, dark, wavy Linda hairstyle from Truth and snap pics in my SL bedroom My bed is from Instinct and what’s great about it is that it has lots of lounging about, chilling out types of poses.
Felice comes in a range of rich colors just waiting for you to eat up:
Another one of my Blowpop acquisitions is the Jolene set in the scarlet color. The stockings are purchased separately and come in different levels of sheerness. Jolene is everything a girl could want in lingerie; cute, sexy, pretty, and delicate are all words that come to mind when I take a moment to admire it. ^_^ How can you resist stuff like this? You can’t! :p

I think I’m starting to notice a pattern in my shopping habits:
I like cute dresses.
I tend to favor the shops that have the kinds of prices that make it super easy for me to justify buying lots of stuff in one helping (i.e., <3 Cupcakes, Fireflies, D!FF, Magnolia, just to name a few).
The more versatile the item is, the better.
D!FF’s new Isometric Dress, which comes in three color combinations, happily fulfills all these criteria. ^^
Clicking on the above image should take you to the flickr page where you can view a larger version.
The flexi-prim skirts have been given a flattering shape and the hem length is instant cuteness. The tops are provided on both the shirt and jacket layer, making it easy for you to mix things up with other items in your inventory and thus attain your own individual look.
The design of the dress is simple enough so that it lends itself to a variety of different looks, while the vibrant colors and the pattern keep things visually interesting and fun. Just add the right hairstyles, shoes, and other accessories, and you can go from a look that’s appropriate for a day at the park or the zoo, to a smart looking get-up for visiting the art museum. (Yay for coming up with scenarios for your clothes while playing dress-up ^_^ )
