This is my first Halloween in Second Life, so I’ve no idea if the rate at which SL’s clothing designers have been cranking out the Halloween costumes lately is the norm… but whatevs, it’s great! Some of the costumes I’ve been seeing come out in the Fashion Planet feed are a real trip.
The more I thought about it, though, the more I realized that I kind of treat every day in SL as Halloween. Yes, my avatar is like my glorified, virtual Barbie. I love dressing her up, and my (bloated) inventory shows it; I’ve even got a special folder marked “Costumes”.
So, just for fun, I made a little costume parade video type thingy. Also in the vid are Vivi, Machete, and Gogo. ^_^ Between the lot of us, we’ve donned a ton of outfits for this vid; I’ll post an update later (when I’m feeling less lazy) to share where we got all the goodies from, just in case you want any of these items for your own Barbie — erm, I mean, avi.
I’ve made a new machinima, yay! This video features a burlesque pink martini glass that your avi can swim in, and omigawd it is just too cute and sexy Have a look!
I really love the martini glass. Seriously, it’s tons of fun to look at. ^_^ The glass was built, scripted, and animated by Hap Underwood and it is currently being sold in three “flavors” at his store. Mr. Underwood may be a relative newcomer to the SL scene, but he is by no means a stranger to animation work; a quick glance at his profile reveals his experience: he’s done design, animation, and art direction work on The Sims and numerous expansion packs, as well as work for notable names like Saban and Disney. I’m looking forward to seeing Hap’s future SL projects!
Check out the martini glasses and other cool scripted items at his store, irkmade, located in the uniquely shaped La Reina sim: La Reina 186, 216, 24
And speaking of shapes, that hot avi you just saw cavorting in the martini glass is sporting my newest shape which I’ve named patterson. Patterson is a gorgeous gal with a very feminine and curvy figure, and she stands at 5′9″. Her wide-set eyes and generous, full lips complete her beautiful, voluptuous look.
You can grab this newest release at my store, also located in the La Reina sim: La Reina 154, 137, 24
Gogo’s latest vid takes place at Versailles… in SL, of course.
What I really like about this vid is that it showcases some of the amazing content creating talent that is present in SL. Seriously, check that build out! And the clothes they’re wearing, and the wigs! I recognize the yellow gown as coming from Nicky Ree (one of my favorite SL designers ever), but I’m not sure about the clothes worn by the other two avis; I’ll update this post after I ask her.
Plus I <3 this vid for using one of my favorite Strokes songs. Enjoy!
Gogo (or Gorgeous Yongho, or Gogolita ^_^ ) just posted another machinima video on her channel! This time she and Gallia Plubeau have donned costumes reminiscent of Barbara Eden in I Dream Of Jeannie, with a matching bottle house to boot. The video is set to the track Genie In A Bottle, by Christina Aguilera.
I made another video… and omgz this one was a real pain in the arse to make. O.o
I really need to splurge on a pooter that can *handle* the abuse I want to put it through. While working on this vid, SL must have crashed at least a gajillion times; my fps plummeted to ZERO; memory issues were resulting in these odd blue, grey, and black marks on my avi; the location I filmed in was griefed several times; Windows MovieMaker went apeshit and froze on me at least five times while I was editing… aaarrgghhh!!
The song is Leave Out All The Rest, by Linkin Park.
The music is by Kumi Koda, and Arycon Fasching graciously agreed to let me take a few shots of him for my vid.
FYI, I don’t have the greatest graphics setup ever. My fps takes a hit when I just put on prim hair, for crying out loud! So, I do everything I can to minimize the strain on my poor lappie Low terrain detail, no local lights (yay for being able to move the sun!), film only one avi at a time (two if they are both standing still lol), and film at least 700m in the sky where there’s very little for my computer to draw.
Once I get a better rig set up, though, you can be certain I’m going to do some serious location scouting for future projects!
Okay, before I say anything else, watch this machinima that Codie just released!
That was her first music video machinima ever. I would never have guessed this was her first time trying her hand at it! I’m looking forward to future vids that I’m sure will be surfacing on her YouTube channel. Do yourself a favor and go subscribe to it. ^_^
And now, let’s step back for a moment and contemplate the woman behind the avatar, shall we? She’s an SL photography artist, she runs a club (CodeRed Lounge), she runs a shop in which she sells avatar content that she’s created (Dramavatar), she’s total brainiac who is ace at scripting and other stuff that flies over my head… and now we can add machinima creator to the list.
And the best part of it all? She truly is one of the friendliest, sweetest, most gracious people you will come across in SL.
When I was rezzed in Second Life (SL) in February of 2007, I had no idea what I was in for. I’d been curious about SL for a long time but hadn’t able to enter this alternate universe with my previous computer.
SL has been a fascinating ride thus far. I’ve met some pretty amazing people, made new friends, explored the complexities and issues peculiar to online relationships, discovered my inner fashionista (it’s like I’m six-years-old again and playing with my Barbie doll, hehe), seen some truly innovative things, and marveled at the astounding educational possibilities SL presents. The best part of it all? Having been exposed to different ways of thinking and perceiving things. The Metaverse truly is limited only by what we can imagine.
This blog will be a lot of things: a documentation of my adventures in SL, a place to post pictures I’ve taken in SL as well as those I’ve worked on in Photoshop, a smorgasbord of machinima from both myself and from friends, an unabashed accounting of adoration for clothes I’ve found in SL, a reflection on relationships, a medium for me to vent my complaints about SL issues, and probably other things I haven’t thought of yet.
If you’re ever logged in at the same time as me, feel free to drop a “Hello”. I’ll probably want to snap your avi’s picture and have you over to my house.
