Grid Expectations

the Second Life™ of Melanie Kidd

mela’s is now on SLExchange and OnRez

Wewt, so I finally finished getting my most recent stuff up on SLEX and OnRez :D

I’ve been meaning to get my things on there but never quite got around to it.  Over the past couple of days, however, I’ve had several requests from people wanting to send the skin fatpack as a gift to friends… so I figured I should make gift-giving easier for people when they’re not able to find me online.  Or if I’m AFK (which is like, 75% of the time ^^).

Here are the linkies:

mela’s @ SLExchange.com (you will need to enable mature content but I promise my pics are all PG!)

On a side note, the girls from Poseur have been waiting patiently for their blog to be added to the Fashion Planet feed (they’ve been on the iheartsl feed for weeks now, though… sorry, couldn’t resist :p ) but since that’s not happened yet, they’ve been invited to use Grid Expectations to announce their stuffs or whatever.  ^^  You can view their blog at http://lesposeurs.wordpress.com/ and check out a couple of their pose vendors at my shop in La Reina.

Just in time for New Years!!! <33333

You *have* to watch this. :D

My friend Hap Underwood of irkmade, the very talented, very creative dude behind the animated burlesque martini glass that I showed off my patterson shape in, has created the animated bubbly burlesque champagne glass, just in time for New Years! :D

I’m totally tickled and flattered that he chose to have his model use the aurora II body shape that I have for sale at my shop Mela’s, because if there’s anything I know about Hap, it’s that he’s got the eyes of a hawk when it comes to detail. Anyways, she looks absolutely adorable in this vid! He has her done up very nicely with hair from Jetdoll, a dress from Pixel Mode, skin from Jezebel’s, hosiery from No. 9, and shoes from Jeepers Creepers.

Want to put on a sexy little burlesque show of your own? You can find these glasses at irkmade in the La Reina sim.

Okay, and since I have an excuse to post burlesque videos :p here’s my old one again… it’s not as pretty as Hap’s but I had fun making it. ^_^

And because it’s my blog, here’s me and Izzy :D

martini glass… & oh yeah, the patterson shape :p

I’ve made a new machinima, yay! This video features a burlesque pink martini glass that your avi can swim in, and omigawd it is just too cute and sexy :-D Have a look!

I really love the martini glass. Seriously, it’s tons of fun to look at. ^_^ The glass was built, scripted, and animated by Hap Underwood and it is currently being sold in three “flavors” at his store. Mr. Underwood may be a relative newcomer to the SL scene, but he is by no means a stranger to animation work; a quick glance at his profile reveals his experience: he’s done design, animation, and art direction work on The Sims and numerous expansion packs, as well as work for notable names like Saban and Disney. I’m looking forward to seeing Hap’s future SL projects!

Check out the martini glasses and other cool scripted items at his store, irkmade, located in the uniquely shaped La Reina sim: La Reina 186, 216, 24

And speaking of shapes, that hot avi you just saw cavorting in the martini glass is sporting my newest shape which I’ve named patterson. Patterson is a gorgeous gal with a very feminine and curvy figure, and she stands at 5′9″. Her wide-set eyes and generous, full lips complete her beautiful, voluptuous look.

new machinima from Gogo

Gogo’s latest vid takes place at Versailles… in SL, of course. ;-)

What I really like about this vid is that it showcases some of the amazing content creating talent that is present in SL. Seriously, check that build out! And the clothes they’re wearing, and the wigs! I recognize the yellow gown as coming from Nicky Ree (one of my favorite SL designers ever), but I’m not sure about the clothes worn by the other two avis; I’ll update this post after I ask her.

Plus I <3 this vid for using one of my favorite Strokes songs. :-D Enjoy!

Hello, my name is Meowlanie

I think it was about a week or so ago that Marquez, RL and SL DJ as well as Photoshopper Extraordinaire, paid a visit at Puma’s house. He ended up taking some pics of us while visiting, hehe:

Fashion Challenge 4: Sexy Safari

Okay, so I went ahead and put in an entry in the most recent fashion challenge. If you have a few moments, go take a look at everyone’s pics and rate them! I flaked out the last time, so I didn’t want to miss this one.

I had fun choosing the outfit for this challenge, and even more fun taking the pics in the setting that my friend Ranulph Graves (who, btw, is a pro at Photoshop and I keep pestering him about when he’s going to start a Flickr account) helped me find and set up.

I chose a leopard print strapless dress from Ivalde and paired it with red pailette earrings from Paper Couture and red slingback pumps from Shiny Things. To really give it an 80s Duran Duran music video feel, I used the Romance hairstyle from Cake. ^_^ Photos shot in Insula Maris.

The shot that I chose as my entry:

Second Style Fashion Challenge 4

I actually like this shot better, but passed over it in favor of the previous since the outfit shows up in less detail and this *is* a fashion challenge :p

And here is Ran at Insula Maris… photos aren’t the only things he’ll shoot. :p No llamas were harmed during this photoshoot:

Ran is gonna show those llamas he means business

Finally met Codie, a.k.a. CodeBastard Redgrave

There are quite a number of people from SL who haunt flickr on a very regular basis, and many of them are incredibly talented at elevating SL snapshots to an art form.

I finally got to meet one of these people in-world a few days ago. Her name is CodeBastard Redgrave (is that a cool name or what?!), a.k.a. Codie. We’d been meaning to intercept for a while but because of time differences and obligations, that hadn’t really worked out.

Until now! Codie IM’d me and we were both free, so I asked her to come over to my house in Peraut. We chatted for a bit when Codie informed me that she’d been taking pics of me as we sat. ^_^ Then she asked if I’d be open to doing a photoshoot with her, and I was like, are you kidding?! If you’ve seen the images that she’s posted of her friends, you’d be jumping at the opportunity, too.

One of the shots Codie took in my house.

Codie suggested going with a tropical theme, so we donned some bikinis and headed out to a place called… um, I forget the name lol. (I’ll update this post when I do get that info, I’ve got it landmarked because I REALLY want to go back and explore the area, it’s absolutely gorgeous.)

I had fun during the shoot, and Codie’s sweet and fun to chat with. Sometimes I forgot to use the backslash when typing and I think I messed up a bunch of her pictures with my hands moving, but for the most part I think I was able to control my movements.

I was surprised that no one interrupted us during the shoot; there were several people in the area and I think maybe a couple of them were mildly curious as to what we were up to as we stood around and posed. There was one guy that stood off to the side for a long time, but he never approached us. I know if I’d come across two women in bikinis just standing around posing in a park, I would’ve been nosy enough to ask outright what was going on, hehe.

After Codie had finished grabbing a bunch of high-res images, she set to the task of “killing” pictures. I don’t remember the exact total but I think she said she’d accumulated about 80 pictures; some of them had to go. She whittled the collection down to a set of 51 photos, which you can view here if you’d like.

She asked me to choose two images for her to enhance in Photoshop — one of just me, and one of the two of us. I made my choices, and then she proceeded to explain to me how she goes about enhancing the images with layers, diffusion effects, the liquify tool, etc. I was really happy about that, because I have a bunch of SL images on my hard drive that I want to tackle but I’ve been unsure where to start.

After a bit, she’d finished the post-processing work and uploaded them to flickr. Yay! Here are the two images:
